The Basilisk

The basilisk, which lived in the Lybian deserts, was the deadliest serpent ever to inhabit the earth. The basilisk had the head of a rooster and the body of a serpent. A glance from its eyes could kill, and it's very breath caused pestilince. Although serpent like in nature the basilisk did not move by slithering but by rearing its coils.
