Centaurs were beasts in Greek mythology that had the body of a horse and the torso and head of a man. The Centaurs haunted the slopes of Mount Pelion, near the coast of Thessaly in the northern part of Greece. The centaurs were extremely fierce. They would often battle among themselves. They would eat raw meat, and the very taste of wine would make them mad. The exception to the rule was a centaur named Chiron. He possessed unmatched skills in healing, music making, and the arts of war. He choose a seperate life from the others of his race, and he taught Hercules, Achilles, and Jason. All of which became great adventurers.
